Richard Feyman Quotations

“It doesn't matter how beautiful your theory is, it doesn't matter how smart you are. If it doesn't agree with the experiment, it's wrong”

“Our imagination is stretched to the utmost, not, as in fiction, to imagine things which are not really there, but just to comprehend those things which 'are' there.”

Developmental Behaviourial Modelling DBM

"We are all modellers in a naturalistic way. We all have our models and our own way of building them. What if we understood more about these models and how we build them and developed new, more effective ways to change them? This would involve product, process and principle. This has been the aim of DBM."

John McWhirter - Creator & Developer of DBM

Business Modelling NLP & DBM as a developmental approach to Change

In Business we are constantly striving to improve the models we utilise.NLP & DBM provide a technology to understand those models more deeply. Entrepreneurs, Business Executives and line managers seek to develop their models with no formal training in NLP or DBM,modelling tools created to model behaviour.

So firstly what are the business modelling aspects we might wish to model? Here are a few:-

  • Model a Business or Organisation (eg Whats the Easyjet model)
  • Model a business process (Manufacture of the Toyota Yaris or Supply of Sandwiches at Subway)
  • Model particular expertise (toolmaking)
  • Model an example (a great facilitator)
  • Model a culture (differential of identity)
  • Model Structure in an organisation
  • Model new tools such as those developed through NLP and DBM, such as The Meta model or Self management model.
  • Model a pattern from a number of examples (Compassion in nursing)
  • Model a process (an appraisal process)

and so on aand so forth

So in NLP some practitioners describe their modelling as the difference that makes the difference. Easier said than done without modelling lots of examples. A potential shortcut is to search out exceptional performance and make a comparison against the norm.

One means of modelling using DBM (Developmental Behaviourial Modelling) is take an example and through variation of testing is to optimise the behaviour. But the emphasis is on noticing what works and what works even better rather than just muddling along with something that is OK! NLP promises to model excellence, which would label it as a fixed destination, rather than excelling, which includes constantly updating.

Systemic Business Modelling
Many consultancies offer fixed prescribed solutions for a variety of organisations. Business Modelling uses a process with no fixed assumptions but takes each organisation as unique in terms of its requirements and the potential solutions available.

One of key aspects of systemic consultancy is the dynamic relationship between the organisation, its management and the consultant engaged.
